Who we are
About Us
A family who has loved this corner of Cornwall since 2002 — and still does the welcoming ourselves.
What our visitors say
“Brought family ranging from an 80 year old father to a 16 year old daughter. Marvellous walking holiday — saw a seal off the point at Minack Theatre, gannets, peregrine falcon, hen harrier plus curlew and oyster catchers. All walked the coastal paths. House and village loved by all.”
“Lovely cottage with such a wonderful view. Great place to stay, warm ambience, comfortable, stunning surroundings. Great base to explore Cornwall — can't wait to come again.”
“Absolutely sensational. Nothing could be more perfect. The cottage, the location, the storm blowing outside. Love it.”
“What a beautiful place tucked right at the end of the country with the most magical views. Impossible not to be happy here.”
“This is an amazing location to relax with your grand facilities. Views to die for, and heavenly peace and quiet. We'll be back.”
“It is such a beautiful cottage with the most extraordinary view I've ever seen in the UK. St Michael's Mount is magical.”
“A truly 'Cornish Cottage' with spectacular views. A very memorable holiday. Thank you.”
How this began
Sea Retreat began in 2002, out of our family's love of Cornwall. Trevara and Little Trevara aren't rental units to us — we've lovingly and carefully renovated them ourselves over the years, room by room.
It gives us great joy to share our cottages with the people who come to stay — many of whom come back to us year after year.
The wider family is never far away, even when they're not in Cornwall — Sally's daughter Cindy runs her own business, and her son Edward works abroad as a lawyer but finds every excuse he can to get back and check out the surf.
The people behind it
Sally has run Sea Retreat since the beginning in 2002, out of a love for Cornwall that has never faded. She still reads and replies to every enquiry herself.

What guides us
What we care about
Personal
every enquiry is read and answered by a member of the family, not a booking desk.
Cared for
both cottages are maintained and renovated by us, continually.
Honest
if a cottage isn't right for your group, we'll say so and suggest the other one.
Rooted
three generations who know Marazion well enough to send you to the right beach.
Just as important
What this isn't
-
We are not a faceless letting agency — you'll always speak to Sally or Malou directly.
-
We are not interested in overbooking — each cottage is looked after properly between guests.
-
We are not going anywhere — we've been doing this since 2002, and plan to for a long time yet.
